Didn't do much today--slept in, washed dishes, made bread and wild rice soup, and spent scads of time glued to the computer.

I need to work on my Thesis. I'm going to upload it so I don't end up losing it to a computer crash, but I'm going to spare you if you're not interested. I only really have the secondary research done now, and I need to tack on a bit to change it to an Alternate Plan paper.

Thesis, so farCollapse )

If you looked, I was prepared to start a pirimary research study at my former company. Then I had a stroke and had to relearn English. So much for that. Now, I just want to graduate and get on with my life. Blech.

Woman called me yesterday. It was a casual phone interview, and I'm going to the office at 4:45 for the actual interview. I'm sitting at the main Hennepin Library building at the moment, killing a little time.

Well, I was hoping for a part-time desk job, but I'm surprised to be interviewing for Customer Service? Well, whatever it is, it's a job. Please cross your fingers for me?

Yes, I know things have changed...

Now I know life has been the boring, dishwater blech my life has been forever, but I suspect your life has brought some large changes. I have a choice:

a) Devote a straight week to reading LiveJournal in its entirety (and still missing some stuff not written down);
b) Beg you (nicely, of course) to fill me in on the larger events I've missed in the last year or so.

Did you move, have a baby, buy a house, finally landed the good job?

I need a catch-up.

Please, please, please!

Freeware? Shareware?

Hey. Cheb!

I remember a while ago (couple years, maybe?), I remember you hooked me up with a Freeshare/Shareware word processing application (pseudo-Microsoft). I don't remember where it was, and this time it's PC.

Can you (or anyone) help me? Thank you!

Hello all!

Yes, I know what the inside of a hole looks like--that's pretty much where I've been. Depressed, cut off from most folks, middle of the winter blues, etc.

I've been trying to drag myself out just to get out there, but three buses, a train, and hoofing a few blocks after dialysis, just to sit at the library? Not so much. It's a nice library, and they let me sit on the computer for up to five hours, but it's not that nice. (They don't provide the chocolate, or anything...)

But, then I went down to my sister's place last week, where I got to spend some time with my little brother. He's the one who lives in Jersey (Joisey!), works in Manhattan, and manages other Industrial Engineers. Yup, he gets the good paycheck.

He suddenly announced he was going shopping and hauled off my neice to the store. Best Buy, I learned, when he dropped a bag in my lap. Laptop and wireless mouse. Whee!

Okay, I live three blocks from a small library with WiFi, and a block more from Ginkgo, a coffee shop. This also sets me up for a possible job. Yay!

Hello, all-

Yup, it's me. I've been putting off posting; my life has been incredibly boring as of late. I just finished a Holiday temp job at Target on University, so my time is now taken up by looking for work. Anyone heard of something/anything I might like/tolerate that my knees can take? I've got a Bachelors degree, and I can work full time if necessary, but part-time could work. I like living indoors.

Hullo. Never has an icon been so appropriate.

Okay, I knew packing boxes sucks, but I've decided, doing it between dialysis and toting and unpacking them at the new place is icky.

Yes, I'm lounging at the Wescott Library. They let me sit here for up to five hours if no one else reserves it (the computer nags me every ten minutes, asking if I would like to extend my time) but the alternative of going back home and (gasp!) packing even more crap? Not so much.

I'm hoping to move just the furniture this Sunday. (luno! mle282! Are we still on? Please let me know if I'm wrong.) We've moved over most of the breakable stuff, and all the little stuffed animals are going in the box tonight. Leftover fried chicken and mashed potatoes first.

Anyone out there willing to pitch in?

A Change of Scenery...is Less Expensive

Finally, we're moving inside the 494 loop. No, it's not because it's time, it's gonna actually be cheaper. And we'll be living with family...sort of.

I "adopted" a slew of teenagers a while back in Mankato--the Mankato Adopt-A-Dork program--and it ended up giving me a pile of very good things, and let me give up on the requirement for babies. Much better, I think. :) On June 1st, we'll be moving into a house on Minnehaha Avenue in St. Paul with our oldest, Lee. (I guess he'll be getting his kidney back. Or at least they'll be sharing an address.)

Anyone out there masochistic enough to help? We're going to move some boxes over early, and we're gonna go through our crap and toss a bit, (donate the sofa, get rid of the old VCR and a bunch of tapes...) but I would really appreciate help moving the furniture when the time comes. If I can bribe anyone, please respond to my e-mail: ginger.bock@gmail.com and I'll get hold of you with the details.

Yes, I said bribes. I'm thinking food and booze of some sort.

I've lost access to the Internet. Just can't afford it right now, and I won't be able to get it back for quite a while.

Since I can't drive right now, I'm dependant on the occasional bus ride to the library.

So. If you have new stuff you've done/suffered/happened in the last, say, month, and it's something I should know about, please let me know.

Other than that? Bored. Miss everybody.
